BBQ Miso Eggplant

1 pound round eggplant peeled and cut 1/2-inch thick
2 ounces shiro miso (white miso paste)
1 ounce sake (japanese rice wine)
2 ounces sugar
1/2 ounce soy sauce
6 ounces water
1/2 ounce green onion, chopped
1/4 ounce sesame oil

Marinate eggplant slices overnight. Drain and grill on a well oiled grill until grill marks are well defined. Serve with reserved marinade.


This recipe seems really interesting, but problem is that I don't always remember to set up a recipe the night before. . . this would take some planning. But it looks great. (Gotta track down miso paste!)

Not essential to marinate, just stab with a fork all over and brush the marinade on, leave for 30 mins + and it's good to go
